Christina Papaioannou's paintings reflect a twenty-first-century visual condition, where images circulate across digital platforms, detached from their contexts and freed from traditional hierarchies. Drawing on an expansive archive that spans Renaissance painting, Greek mythology, popular culture, children's drawings and internet imagery, she builds compositions where disparate references coexist in a single pictorial space.

Working through fragmentation, layering and recombination, she approaches painting as a site where historical memory meets contemporary image culture, evoking the experience of navigating an endless digital landscape where a fifteenth-century engraving, a mythological figure and a mass-produced image sit side by side.
